Do women of color lose weight slower .................
than our lighter counters parts. AKA white folks. I'm pre-op surgery scheduled for 08/25/09 so pumped. Anyway I've been reading post on this board and the RNY board and sometimes the main board (that boards a little scary). I've also been watching a ton of you-tube videos just to gain as much personal experience, and knowledge as possible. I've noticed that black women tend to lose a little slower then white woman. Is this true and if so why. I find it interesting and would like you opinions and insight in the matter. I know WLS surgery is not a magic bullet but a tool but can the color of my skin truley make the process slower and harder. Ughhhh must we fight for everything!!!
We MAY lose lbs slower - but black folk also build muscle a bit easier (ole massa done helped us be skrong lol)
While the #s may not be what you want - your size and overall body composition more than likely will.
I am 5'9'', I currently weigh 195lbs as of this morning and I am wearing a size 10 pant. That ain't typical. So - it's really what YOU make it - not what others may or may not experience - set your own goal for you - speak it into your body and make it work!

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

I am bi-racial but I am like Mack Mama, I am 5'10 and I weigh 190 lbs and wear a size 12/13. (yeah, still doing that in between sizes thing). Even though I am curvy, I have long legs and carry my weight evenly throughout my body. I'm not typical either, but I know I am more fit at this weight now than I have EVER been just losing "fat" in years past.
